The weekly live radio broadcasts of Puppet Hunt ran for over 6 years on the small local station KNK out of Wenatchee Washington. It origially aired as part of the Shinola Cavalcade of Crime but due to it's popularity with listeners, soon took over the 9:00 - 9:30 p.m. Sunday time slot as a stand alone puppet crime noir drama series. We hare at Lankey Productions have dedicated a good portion of our time and effort to finding and lovingly restoring the long lost Puppet Hunt episodes.
Puppet Hunt: Still Ahead of Its Time
Puppet Hunt ran from 1946-1952 and was consistently the 2nd most popular live radio crime puppet noir in the Pacific Northwest. Set in the bustling fishing and entertainment town of Large Neck, The partners in crime solving, Rock Handy and Nicolio Salmon found themselves thrust ankle deep in mystery every Sunday night from 9:00 to 9:30.
Even though Puppet Hunt seems to be an artifact of the 1940's, we argue it’s ahead of its time for having a combination of elements like no other. The cases are solved by two equal partners in a city divided in half.
